We shed teardrops in thanksgiving for a blessing received, in joy for a special accomplishment, or in sorrow because of illness or the death of a loved one.  Our Blessed Mother experienced both the heights of joy and the depths of sorrow. She wants to wipe away our tears and comfort us as she comforted Jesus. We invite you to join us during the Our Lady of Sorrows Novena of Masses, beginning on September 6, in preparation for the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows on September 15.  We will prayerfully remember your special intentions at our Lady’s Shrine. You may also wish to burn a Votive Light at the Shrine. Read Fr. Kevin’s letter about how to offer our intentions to Mary. Request one or both of our special gifts: our new Light Blue Teardrop Rosary and our new Teardrop Miraculous Medal and Chain that have been blessed here at our Lady’s Shrine.

I invite you to join us at our Blessed Mother’s Altar during the Our Lady of Sorrows Novena, beginning on September 6. Send us your petitions to be placed near Mary’s Altar, and burn Votive Lights for your intentions. For each of the nine days of the novena, say this prayer. Mary is Our Lady of Sorrows.  She carries this honored title because she knows and experiences sorrow as deeply and as painfully as anyone possibly can. She witness the excruciating passion and crucifixion of her only Son, unable to help him…except by her prayers. This is how our Lady helps us today, and she is waiting to help you now!  Read Fr. Kevin’s message about Our Lady of Sorrows.

Our Lady of Sorrows

Our Lady of Sorrows is one of Mary’s many honored titles.  It seems especially relevant because she knew and experienced sorrow as deeply and as painfully as anyone can.  She witnessed the passion and crucifixion of her only Son, unable to help him…except by her prayers.  This is how our Lady helps us today, and she is waiting to help you now!  I invite you to join us at our Blessed Mother’s Altar during the Our Lady of Sorrows Novena, beginning on September 7.  Send us your petitions to be placed near Mary’s Altar, and burn Votive Lights for your intentions. For each of the nine days of the novena, say this prayer. Read Fr. Kevin’s message about Our Lady of Sorrows.
