When our Blessed Mother first appeared to Saint Catherine Labouré, she was seated, hands open as if asking the young novice to surrender her joys, worries, and intentions to Mary. Today, I pray that like Catherine did, you will spiritually entrust your cares to her, as well. I also invite you to send me your special intentions to be placed physically into the hands of our Lady’s bronze statue here on the National Shrine grounds in Perryville, Missouri. Your needs will be remembered throughout our October 7-14 octave of prayer honoring Our Lady of the Rosary. You may wish to order one or both of these devotional gifts to enrich your prayer journey. Fr. Kevin’s inspiring letter shares more about this wonderful opportunity!

Do you know someone who is suffering from the loss of a loved one? I invite you to share the gift of Mary’s loving consolation by requesting our beautiful Memorial Remembrance Card. We’ll mail you the card for you to send to the person in need. And if you send me the name of the deceased, he or she will be remembered in the prayers and daily Mass being offered daily at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal throughout the year. Just as our Lady comforted nine-year-old Saint Catherine Labouré following her mother’s death, so she will bring peace of heart to all who look upon her image in their sorrow. Fr. Kevin’s letter shares more about this touching story from Catherine’s life. You will also have the opportunity to burn a Votive Light for the peaceful repose of the soul of the loved one who has passed on – a wonderful symbol of your faith-filled compassion and another gift of love.
