Association of the Miraculous Medal
News from the Association
Blog Home > Archive (January, 2019)
Three years ago the Association set and achieved an ambitious goal of distributing one million Miraculous Medals as a gift presented to our Lady on her birthday, September 8. This year, as a way of beginning the Association’s next 100 years of service, and with the power of so many great members, we are setting a new goal of distributing two million Miraculous Medals by our Lady’s next birthday. We hope you will join us in our efforts. Read Fr. Kevin’s letter about the hopeful message of the Miraculous Medal.

If you are looking for a way of sharing miraculous grace that comes only from our Lord in a gift for memorable occasions like Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, weddings, and anniversaries, or for the passing of a loved, the Association recommends a Perpetual Membership. It’s an ongoing share in the spiritual benefits of Masses and prayers offered here at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal for the living or deceased. Read Fr. Kevin’s letter which explains our Perpetual Memberships and the spiritual benefits bestowed upon those enrolled.

You are invited to join us in spirit for a very special novena beginning January 14 and continuing through January 22 to celebrate the Espousal of Mary to Saint Joseph. Send me your petitions for remembrance throughout the novena as well as on the feast day itself, January 23, and burn Votive Lights as a sign of your prayer. In this novena we ask them to pray for us and our families. Mary and Joseph both took a leap of faith when they said “yes” to become the parents of our Lord, Jesus Christ. They resigned themselves to the will of God and trusted in his wisdom and plan. On the feast of the Espousal of Mary, January 23, all of us are called to our own leap of faith—to abandon our personal desires for those of the Lord. Look to imitate Mary and Joseph who faithfully placed themselves in the hands of God.

You are invited to join the Association’s Octave of Masses, February 11-18, honoring Our Lady of Lourdes. Send us your intentions now to be remembered and burn Votive Lights.  Mary, under her titles of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and Our Lady of Lourdes, is always ready to help her children. So many miracles at the healing pools of Lourdes, France, testify to the fact that Mary intercedes for us! This close connection between Lourdes and the Miraculous Medal is why we celebrate an octave of Masses here at the National Shrine of the Miraculous Medal honoring Our Lady of Lourdes. Read Fr. Kevin’s letter about the story of the 70th miracle of Lourdes which occurred in 2008 and was officially declared attributable to Our Lady of Lourdes on February 11, 2018.
