If someone close to you is grieving the loss of a loved one, I invite you to send them our new Memorial Remembrance Card, and send me the name of the departed person so he or she can be remembered in the prayers and daily Mass here at the Shrine for one year. Mary’s image on the card inspires us to realize that she stands by us in our sorrow just as she stood by Jesus as he died for us on the cross. You might also want to burn a Votive Light for your departed loved one. Read more about the love and comfort Jesus and his Blessed Mother have for us in Fr. Kevin’s letter.

Do you remember reciting the Guardian Angel prayer as a child or to your children? As our students, teachers, and staff members return for a new school year, let us remember that in his love, God really does commit each one of his children to the spiritual protection of a guardian angel. The Association has a new Guardian Angel Back to School Votive Light card to let a loved one know you are praying for them. If you know someone returning to school – a child, teenager, adult, teacher, or staff member, please send me their names so they may be included in the prayers and Masses offered at our Lady’s Shrine for the entire school year.  You might also want to give those returning to school their very own Miraculous Medal attached to a lobster-claw clasp. Read Fr. Kevin’s letter about returning to school.

The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is Saturday, September 8. The Association of the Miraculous Medal has a beautiful tradition of remembering Mary’s birthday each year. Beginning on September 8, and lasting for eight days, an octave of prayer will be offered at our Lady’s Shrine.  Send me your petitions to be remembered here at the Shrine during this special octave of prayer honoring our Blessed Mother and burn Votive Lights for family and friends. Mary loves us beyond our greatest imagination, and so as our heavenly Mother and the Mother of God, her prayer is truly miraculous. When we offer her our united petitions, Jesus hears and answers them. Read Fr. Kevin’s letter about Mary’s birthday.
