My mother never seemed more delighted than when she’d open a birthday gift her children had handmade. Mom treated a felt-and-glue knick knack or piece of painted pottery as if they were the most precious masterpiece on earth.
To her, they were. Not because they were works of great art, but of great love.
That’s the kind of gift Our Blessed Mother likes best, too.
Every year on September 8, the Church celebrates the birthday of the Mother of God — who is at every moment our Mother, too. As her devoted children, we have the opportunity to offer Our Lady the most precious masterpiece, the gift of our love.
I invite you to take part in this year’s birthday celebration in honor of Our Blessed Mother by sending your intentions.
Your inclusion will bring you spiritually present to the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal during our octave of prayer beginning on Mary’s birthday, September 8.
There’s no better occasion to entrust to Mary the intentions close to your heart right now. Perhaps you are concerned over material needs for yourself or your family, have a plea for a loved one’s return to faith, a petition to end the pandemic, or you simply wish to express your gratitude for God’s goodness. Whatever it is, give it all to Jesus through Mary.
Any offering you can give will be used to do two things: (1) help the Association draw more souls closer to Jesus through Our Lady; and (2) support the apostolic mission and charitable works of the Vincentian priests and brothers. Your gift will also help us continue to distribute free, blessed Miraculous Medals attached to an explanation card to anyone who asks, furthering the great mission Mary entrusted to Saint Catherine Labouré in 1830. These works make your generous sharing in AMM’s mission a gift of eternal value.
What difference can your gift make? We hear daily from members who tell us how Mary has showered consolation and blessings in their lives. Just a few days ago, Patty from Iowa wrote:
“A friend’s niece in her early 30s recently came down with a dangerous lung infection and had to be placed on a respirator. I prayed to Our Lady asking for a miracle for her to be healed, because this lady is a mother, just like Mary is. I know my prayers are being heard; she is improving day by day. What an awesome intercessor our Church has in the Mother of God!”
