Association of the Miraculous Medal

In the Gospel of John, Jesus told his followers that if they remained in his word, they would be his disciples. As disciples, they would know the truth, and the truth would set them free. Summer break is almost over, and students throughout the country are resuming their own quests for truth.

I am certain that you know someone returning to school this year - a student or educator - who needs protection from those who will attempt to weaken his or her Christian resolve.

Please send me their names so that they may be included in my own personal prayers, and in the prayers and Masses here at our Lady’s National Shrine. Your intentions will remain at the Shrine throughout the coming school year.

You can also offer your loved ones special encouragement by sending them our “Back to School” Votive Light card. Your card will let them know you’re thinking of and praying for them.

The beautiful image on the card will also be a reminder that Mary, the Mother of God, accompanies them every step of the way. Just as our Lady instructed and cared for Jesus two thousand years ago, she continues doing so today for all who confidently seek her intercession.

Finally, I encourage you to share the inspirational story of our Lady’s appearance to Saint Catherine by giving the returning students and teachers in your life their very own Miraculous Medal. The Association has many beautiful medals to choose from, including one with a large lobster-claw clasp that conveniently attaches to lanyards, backpacks, purses, and keychains. By making a gift of $10.00 or more today, we will be happy to send you this medal to share.

School is a quest for truth and knowledge. In our Catholic tradition, we know that there is one Truth, one Life, and one Way, and his name is Jesus Christ. Mary, the Mother of our Lord, brings us to her Son, and she intercedes for parents, grandparents, guardians, and educators, guiding them in their efforts to form the next generation, just as she and Joseph did for Jesus.

Thank you for all you do for our Lady’s Association. Your prayers and support are an inspiration to me and so many others.

May the returning students and educators in your life find comfort in Mary’s care, and may the grace of our Lord Jesus be upon each one of them in the days, weeks, and months ahead.

Sincerely in Jesus and Mary,

Fr. Kevin McCracken, C.M.
