Association of the Miraculous Medal

Greetings from our Lady’s Association in Perryville, Missouri. I pray you are having a good year and that you know how thankful I am for your membership, your prayers, and your support of Mary’s mission given to Saint Catherine Labouré 188 years ago.

As a way of showing gratitude for all you do, I am offering a beautiful triptych of the Last Supper for you to reflect upon this Lent.

When Jesus met with his apostles in the upper room to break bread with them one last time before his passion, he made it clear that he was indeed the Passover Lamb of God whose sacrificial death would save mankind.

This is why every time we celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the priest raises the consecrated host with the words “Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world.”

Jesus’ self-giving sacrifice on the cross not only redeemed us from the stain of original sin, but it gave us a model for happiness in this life. It is in the act of self-denial that we can give ourselves completely to others. “Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses it will save it” (Luke 17:33). When we lay down our selfish ambitions and desires to help someone else, we are following in the footsteps of our Lord.

The process of growing in holiness is a journey. It doesn’t happen overnight, but only through trust, prayer, perseverance, and grace, which of course our Lady promises to obtain for all who seek her intercession.

To assist in your Lenten journey, this triptych of our Lord’s Last Supper will remind you of God’s love for you and to inspire perseverance in your pursuit of holiness. It’s small enough that you can also take it with you on vacation, to the office, or wherever your Lenten journey takes you.

Please pray the Lenten prayer found on the back of the triptych, and use the “My Faith in Action” list to view the suggested activities for spiritual growth.

Finally, I invite you to prayerfully consider a small financial sacrifice that will make a very big difference in the lives of others. If you set aside just $1 each day of Lent, you will be able to send $40 for our Lady’s work.

Your support will help us reach thousands across the country who are yearning for God’s fatherly love and Mary’s motherly concern.

Thank you for your prayers, penance, almsgiving, and sacrificial love throughout this Lent. Your example of Christian self-giving to others will not only benefit you and your special intentions, but it will make the world a better place.

May God bless you, and may Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal obtain for you the graces you so prayerfully seek.

Sincerely yours in Mary,

Fr.Kevin McCracken, C.M.
Spiritual Director

P.S. Please send your intentions to our Lady’s Association so we can remember them in our prayers and Masses during Lent. Also, you can request a Votive Light at our Lady’s National Shrine for your intentions.
