IT Manager

The IT Manager plans, coordinates, controls, supervises, and participates in the activities of the IT/Data Team.  The IT/Data Team designs, writes, documents, and maintains computer programs and files; sorts and prints labels, envelopes, and letters;  and provides hardware and software support for the staff.  The IT/Data Team also enters all incoming mail into the computer system for processing.


Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related discipline preferred.  Experience in all phases of Information Systems processing:  system design, programming, technical report writing, supervising and scheduling.  Experience desired, but not required, in IBM System i, 3 years in a information systems processing envi­ronment as described above.  The IT Manager is expected to keep abreast of the latest trends, develop­ments, and directions of the computer industry. 
Must be able to communicate with all levels of management and relate the various Information Systems operations to them.  Must be willing to be on call.


1. Plans schedules, assigns work, monitors operations, and maintains production schedules.   

2. Works out mutual goals and standards with individual team members, then coaches, appraises, and evaluates personnel performance in order to meet these goals. 

3. Evaluates hardware and software needs, and makes appropriate recommendations.

4. Works with others in designing and implementing new systems and maintaining existing ones.

5. Maintains up-to-date system flowcharts, program documentation, operator manuals, and backup procedures.

6. Prepares and maintains a disaster manual with specific procedures and designated backup sites.  Assures that two (2) sets of off-site backups of the complete system (files and programs) are maintained at all times.

7. Provides assistance and overall control of the data base design, acting as Data Base Administrator and Security Officer.

8. Coordinates education, and is responsible for cross-training systems analysts in different applications.

9. Coordinates ordering IT/Data Team supplies and equipment maintenance and repair.

10. Gives primary approval/disapproval of leaves requested by IT/Data Team staff, and forwards this information.

11. Performs other related duties as required.
