Our Lady’s Association invites you and your loved ones to view three sacred relics during the first two weekends in April at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.

This portion of a larger, permanent donation to the Shrine includes an authenticated piece of the True Cross; fragment of the table at which Jesus celebrated the Last Supper; and particles from the sites of Gethsemane, Via Dolorosa (the Way of the Cross) and Calvary.

The Lenten relics exhibit will be open to the public on April 2, 3, 9, and 10 from Noon – 4:00 p.m., CT, at 1805 West Saint Joseph Street in Perryville, Missouri, 63775.

According to the second edition of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, prayerful reflection in the presence of sacred relics has long been counted among the spiritual practices of faith-filled Christians:

“Besides sacramental liturgy and sacramentals, catechesis must take into account the forms of piety and popular devotions among the faithful. The religious sense of the Christian people has always found expression in various forms of piety surrounding the Church's sacramental life, such as the veneration of relics, visits to sanctuaries, pilgrimages, processions, the stations of the cross, religious dances, the rosary, medals, etc.”
(Paragraph 1674)

The Association of the Miraculous Medal pledges to serve as a faithful and diligent caretaker of the sacred relics which have been entrusted to us.  May they serve to inspire all people to draw closer to Our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Learn more by calling 1-800-264-6279 weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., CT.  Send us your intentions to be remembered in the Mass at the Shrine on April 10 at 11:00 a.m., CT.

Read Fr. Kevin’s letter about this year’s “live and in person” May Procession which will take place Sunday, May 1, at 1:00 p.m., CT, here at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Perryville, Missouri.

Please join us in person or in spirit. Making an offering to support the ministry of Our Lady’s Association is another beautiful way to show your love for Mary. Your gift will help bring the Mother of God to people and — through her — bring all people into closer union with Christ Jesus. Your gift also assists Vincentian priests and brothers in their ministries of prayer and service. Thank you for your generosity. We hope to see you on May 1!

We will celebrate Our Blessed Mother’s birthday beginning Wednesday, September 8, here at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. There’s no better occasion to entrust to Mary all the intentions you hold close to your heart. Maybe it’s a special intention for yourself or a family member, prayers for a deceased relative, a plea for someone’s return to faith, or simply a prayer of gratitude for God’s goodness and Mary’s love in your life. Whatever it is, share your intentions here. We will lift them up to Our Lady throughout the eight days of our octave of prayer. You may also wish to burn a Votive Light in Mary’s honor. Its rays will add to the light and joy of our celebration! Read Fr. Kevin’s letter to learn more about the birthday candle members are joining together to create.

“On this day, O beautiful Mother, on this day we give thee our love …"

The rains held off, and the people came.

From near and far they arrived … families, couples, school children, First Communicants, and Confirmands. Gathering from across Missouri, Illinois, North Carolina, Indiana, Nebraska, and Ohio, members and friends of the Association of the Miraculous Medal arrived at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. They came to show their love and devotion.

Spiritual Director, Father Kevin McCrackenc C.M., led the pilgrims in a prayerful procession. With rosaries in hand, the congregation strolled along the stately quarter-mile Rosary Walk to Mary’s grotto.

A heartfelt swell of voices lifted prayers and songs to Our Lady as thousands of petitions submitted by Association members were laid at her feet. A wreath of tiny silk roses represented the spiritual presence of these AMM members and supporters.

Fr. Kevin and Deacon Rob Huff offered words of inspiration about Mary’s queenship in heaven and on earth. She is an ever-present and unfailing teacher.

While many have attended the Shrine’s May Procession for many years, others were first-time visitors.

Karen and Mario Anaya were among these. “We heard about the Shrine from my mom,” Karen said. “She had been looking for Miraculous Medals and learned about the May Procession on the AMM website.” The couple traveled eight hours, from Omaha, with their three young children, along with Karen’s parents and another family. “It’s so beautiful here,” Karen shared following the ceremony. “We are really glad we came.”

Read Fr. Kevin’s letter about this tentatively scheduled “live and in person” Procession scheduled for Sunday, May 2, at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Perryville, Missouri.

Please pray for its success and join us in spirit, if not in person. Making an offering is another way you can play an important part in the work of the Association of the Miraculous Medal. Your spring gift will help bring Mary to the world and — through her — bring the world to Jesus! Your support also assists Vincentian priests and brothers in their ministries of prayer and service. Thank you for your generous membership in our AMM family.

“Come, they told me …” Like the Little Drummer Boy, we may feel we have little to offer our infant Savior. This year’s hardships and isolation may have left many people feeling too beaten down to march to the manger with much of a joyful heart. If that’s you, allow AMM’s Christmas Novena to help lift your heart and soul to heaven! When you present your prayers of adoration, repentance, thanksgiving, and intercession for others to Jesus through Mary, it is a sign of your love and devotion to our Lord and Redeemer! From December 16-24, your petitions will bring you spiritually present to the foot of the manger here at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, where you’ll share in our members’ hope-filled anticipation of the Savior’s coming. Request a Votive Light in this same spirit of praise and supplication. May our Lord shower your heart with joy this Christmas!

Christmas is fast approaching, and many of you are feeling overwhelmed by all the preparations of the season. If you are seeking a deeper encounter with Christ this Christmas, I encourage you to offer Jesus your prayers of thanksgiving. A perfect way to do this is to send me your Christmas petitions to be included in the Shrine’s Christmas Novena, December 16-24. Your intentions will be placed at our Lady’s Shrine for remembrance as we prepare for the coming of our Lord. You might also want to burn a Votive Light in thanksgiving for the blessings of the year. May our newborn Savior bless you this Christmas and may his Mother Mary watch over you and your loved ones.

Save the Date for the Association’s annual May Procession here on the shrine grounds Sunday, May 5, 2019. This year the procession will once again begin at 1:00 p.m., CT, instead of 3:30. We will process on the new Rosary Walk to the grotto where Mary will be crowned with a wreath of flowers. We hope you can join us in person for this spiritual event that acknowledges our dependence on God’s grace and Mary’s intercession. As a way to join us in our prayers, we would like for you to send us your intentions to be carried in the May Procession. For more details about the annual May Procession, read Fr. Kevin’s letter.
