Job Description

 

The Mission Advancement Manager, along with the Mission Advancement Team, is responsible for all Association activities related to development including major gifts, capital campaigns, and charitable giving.  The primary objective is to serve the Association by providing an informational service to members, which can be mutually beneficial to both.

DUTIES

1.         Develops and manages a portfolio of members and is their primary contact with the Association.  Cultivates these members through letters, emails, phone calls, and visits.  

2.         Schedules and hosts events/dinners/meetings across the United States to increase donations from Association members. 

3.         Oversees all large donor and major donor activity, including but not limited to classifying members as large or major donors according to previously determined criteria, updating care records, removing members, and appeal preparations for regular appeals sent to large and major donors.  Maintains a high level of professionalism and privacy in regards to our members.

4.         Involved in all aspects of charitable giving including but not limited to maintaining a follow up calendar, communicating with Association staff, and keeping a record of charitable giving activity for members, including wills, annuities, and monthly gifts (Mary’s Legacy Society.)

5.         Corresponds with executors and attorneys regarding charitable giving activity, and is a liason between AMM Finance and major donors.

6.         Works closely with the Mission Advancement Staff to carry out the mission.

7.         Works with the priests and brothers of the Western Province to support development initiatives. 

8.         Works with Correspondence Team to reach out to Monthly Givers, each month, gaining new and updated information by phone and email. 

9.         Gives tours of the grounds to both planned visitors and surprise visitors from each MA Manager’s region.  Must have knowledge of, and discuss grounds sponsorships.   

10.       Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

 Preference is given to degrees in a related field, and/or those with experience in sales and fundraising.  Must have knowledge and a passion for Catholic spirituality with a particular belief in and support of devotion to the Blessed Mother.  Must have an understanding of and be enthusiastic about the mission, history, and vision of the Association and the Vincentians as well as have a personal concern for our members. 

This person must have a strong work ethic and independently manage a particular region with little supervision while cultivating new and larger gifts.  The ability to handle confidential information with discretion is critical.  Must have good organizational skills with emphasis on attention to detail.  Must have knowledge of the various aspects of personal estate planning.  Must be willing to travel nationally, especially to visit members, as the job requires.  

The Mission Advancement Manager is expected to have excellent grammar and communication skills, the ability to compose letters and inserts as well as phone conversations, and demonstrate effective use of basic secretarial skills with speed and accuracy.  After training, this person must have a good working knowledge of the computer codes used on member mail and know how to fulfill member requests for various articles/information prepared by the team.  Must know or learn how to use, to the satisfaction of the Team Leader, the following:  a personal computer, Excel, MSWORD, the internet, email, and the computerized donor record system.

Must work well as a team member and be able to communicate with members of the Association staff and management. 

This is a full-time position.  Must be flexible with hours and willing to work the hours necessary to perform the job effectively.  This includes being on call for visitors as needed.
