Association of the Miraculous Medal

Dear Friend,

A recent inductee into the baseball hall of fame gave his acceptance speech in Cooperstown, New York. As expected, he recognized the many coaches and players who positively impacted his career, and of course, he thanked his fans.

Just when the audience was hanging on to his every syllable, the hall of famer looked admiringly at his mother in the front row, and shared with the crowd, “My mother gave me the greatest gift a mother can give a child. She gave me the gift of my Catholic faith. Mom you were the glue to our family and a true woman of God, thank you.”

Faith truly is the greatest gift a mother can give her child, and this is exactly what our heavenly Mother gives us in the nativity of our Lord Jesus. Mary accepted God’s plan of salvation in her life, and in so doing, she became the mother of us all. Today, our Lady is the glue of our Catholic family, and through her constant maternal intercession, she holds us together and brings us to the heart of Jesus.

Here at the Association of the Miraculous Medal, we love our Lady for her blessed motherhood, and we turn to her in prayer and for guidance. In this Christmas season especially, as we look with joy on the beautiful nativity images around us, we are reminded of Mary’s tender concern. Just as Jesus was safe and cared for in his mother’s arms, so too are we safe and cared for in the protection of our Lady.

Images of our Blessed Mother and the newborn Christ have a special way of moving hearts. This is why the Association of the Miraculous Medal has a tradition of sharing Christmas cards to send as spiritual gifts to relatives, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and anyone else in need of God’s loving grace.

The cards will not only warm the hearts of those you send them to, but will also grant the recipients a share in nine Masses, beginning on Christmas Day, which will be offered here at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. They will also be remembered in a Mass offered by the Vincentian community each week throughout the coming year.

I hope that you will order these cards early, so you will have plenty of time to send them out. For other religious gifts, please visit our on-line gift shop or you can also call our office at 1-800-264-6279.

I pray that Mary will watch over you and your loved ones as we draw closer to Christmas. I also pray that these Christmas cards will remind you and your loved ones of God’s greatest gift— his Son, our Lord Jesus.

Thank you for all you do for our Lady’s Association. Please remember all our members in your prayers. We will be praying for you.

Sincerely yours in Jesus and Mary,

Fr. Kevin McCracken, C.M.
Spiritual Director

P.S. Be sure to order your extra cards now. Orders received after November 21 may not arrive in time for use by Christmas.
