| Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton-Educator and Foundress. This first American born saint lived from 1774-1821. She was a teacher, mother, convert, widow, and founder of American Sisters of Charity under the patronage of Saint Joseph to educate girls.
Six American religious communities of women claim her as their
foundress including the American Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent
de Paul, founded in Paris, France. She was canonized September 14, 1975.
