Two Shrines of the Miraculous Medal
The original shrine where our Lady gave us the medal is at 140 rue du Bac in Paris, France. Preserved in this lovely chapel is the chair where our Lady sat when she talked to Saint Catherine Laboure. Here is offered a monthly novena of Masses for the members of the Association.

In 1830, the year our Lady appeared to Saint Catherine, another chapel honoring Mary was being built in the wilderness of southeast Missouri. It, too, was to become a center of devotion to our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. Dedicated first under the title "Saint Mary," it became the Miraculous Medal National Shrine in 1930. It is a center of prayer, devotion, and pilgrimage in the United States.

The Association of the Miraculous Medal
After Mary gave Saint Catherine the design of the medal, she said, "Now it must be given to the whole world and to every person."

The first purpose of the Association is to carry out our Lady's request. Anyone who enrolls members in the Association takes part in a work dear to Mary's heart. Offerings for membership help the Association pay its expenses in spreading devotion to our Lady and accomplish a second purpose, supporting Vincentian missionaries.

Benefits of Membership
Anyone, living or deceased, including non-Catholics, may be enrolled. A member shares in three novenas of Masses and 30 additional Masses every month--a total of 57 Masses monthly. Members also share in other Masses offered for them and in the daily prayers and Masses of the Vincentian community in the western United States.

Promoters receive a special Promoter Medal and a card announcing a share in a papal blessing.

You become a Promoter when you send in at least twelve Annual Memberships at one time or other memberships amounting to $3 during a year. You thereby become a member and share in the spiritual benefits of members. In addition, on the sixth of each month a special novena of Masses for Promoters is begun, and you share in three other novenas of Masses each year. As a Promoter you may wear the specially designed "Promoter's Medal" and you receive a card announcing that you share in a papal blessing. Active Promoters, at the time of their death, become perpetual members of the Association of the Miraculous Medal.

Enrolling someone as a member in the Association of the Miraculous Medal is one way to show your love and concern. Anyone, living or deceased, including non-Catholics, may be enrolled. We offer several different kinds of memberships which are listed below.

On request, wallet-sized membership cards are available for individual annual members.

An annual member shares in all the spiritual benefits of membership for a period of one year. The dues or offering is only 25 cents per year. A person may also be enrolled for five years with an offering of $1.

Renewable Memberships
The most common type of Annual Membership is renewable. Simply send in the list of members you wish to enroll. Near the end of the period of membership, you will receive a renewal notice. Simply renew the list making any changes and adding the names of new members you want to enroll.

The 6"x8" Individual Perpetual Membership folder is available with a picture of Michelangelo's Pieta, the Shrine Chapel, or our Lady of Grace. On request, the name on the certificate may be engraved in gold. There are three Individual Perpetual Membership Certificate designs. View an example of a full size folder.

When someone becomes a perpetual member of the Association, that person shares not only during life but also after death in the Masses and novenas of Masses, for as long as the Association endures and the Shrine in Perryville remains as its center of prayer. Memberships are available for an individual or a family. To enroll a couple, simply use two individual memberships. Membership certificates are available in English or in Spanish.

A Lasting Memorial
A Perpetual Membership in the Association is a most appropriate expression of sympathy to anyone who has lost a dear one by death. It is truly a lasting memorial.
A Gift for All Occasions
For birthdays, anniversaries, or other special occasions, Perpetual Membership in our Lady's Association makes an attractive gift with deep spiritual meaning. It is a gift which people will appreciate more and more as the years go by because, unlike other gifts, this membership never loses its original value.
Individual Perpetual Membership
You can enroll an individual for an offering of $15 per person. For each membership you receive an attractive certificate mounted in a beautiful, padded leatherette folder. Membership certificates may be engraved in gold on request at no extra charge.

Each Family Perpetual Membership comes with an engraved certificate in a deluxe 9" x 12" folder.

You may take out a Family Perpetual Membership for an offering of $50. This membership includes husband and wife, and their children. It also includes the parents, brothers, and sisters of both the husband and the wife. Each family enrolled receives a beautifully imprinted certificate. Click here to see a full size folder.

Perpetual Membership Medals are available for men (in silver finish on a 27" chain) or for women (in gold finish on an 18" chain).
For an additional offering of $7, you may also wish to give a Perpetual Membership medal to someone you enroll. The medal comes on a chain in a presentation box. It shows the two sides of the Miraculous Medal on the front. The back contains an inscription of Perpetual Membership. There is a gold plated woman's medal or a slightly larger silver finish man's medal. You may send for a Perpetual Membership Medal with your enrollment or at any other time.
