The 2009 May Procession

Our annual May Procession begins promptly at 3:30 p.m. Central Time, on May 3, the first Sunday in May. We process from the Shrine Church to the outdoor Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Grotto. As we walk, we pray the rosary and sing hymns of praise to Mary.

After we gather at the grotto, we sing traditional Marian hymns and pray together as a group. Then the statue of Mary is crowned as we sing “Bring Flowers of the Fairest.” Following the crowning there is a short “Tribute to Mary.”

If you can’t attend in person, join us in spirit by sending your May Procession intentions and burning a Votive Light at our Lady’s Shrine during May.

The Confirmation class from the local Catholic school will carry your petitions to the grotto and present them to our Lady. And after the procession, I will place them at Mary’s Shrine Altar for the rest of the month of May to be remembered in the prayers offered there.

The photos above were taken during the ceremony last year.
