The Story and Meaning of the Miraculous
Medal The Miraculous Medal is a symbol of devotion to Mary, the Mother
of God, and is worn as a pendant. It was given through a vision to Saint Catherine
Labouré at Paris, France, in 1830. It is called "Miraculous" because

Visiting the Shrine
-- The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal is located on the campus
of Saint Mary's of the Barrens, the Heritage Center for the Vincentian community
of priests and brothers in the United States. Saint Mary's of the Barrens
was founded in 1818 and is the oldest institution of higher learning west
of the Mississippi River. It is located in Perryville, Missouri, 80 miles
south of Saint Louis. Visitors are welcome all year.
