The Story and Meaning of the Miraculous Medal The Miraculous Medal is a symbol of devotion to Mary, the Mother of God, and is worn as a pendant. It was given through a vision to Saint Catherine Labouré at Paris, France, in 1830. It is called "Miraculous" because many prayers of those who wore the medal were answered.
