This letter is from New Jersey.

Dear Father,

Every day I wear a Miraculous Medal on a chain. A woman I work with, but don’t know very well, often spotted my sterling silver medal dangling from its chain and always commented that it was the most beautiful medal she had ever seen.

Getting ready for work one day last week, I was adjusting the clasp on the chain when a thought flashed through my mind, “Give this medal to her.” This thought came totally out of the blue. The woman was an acquaintance, not a close friend—what would she think if I just gave this to her? Besides, I thought, “It’s a medal I’m accustomed to wearing. It gives me much comfort to wear, especially if I am worried about something.” But, that thought persisted, followed by another, “Give up this possession during Lent.”

So I found its velvet pouch, placed the medal and chain inside, and went to work. I arrived at work and waited until I found my co-worker alone at her desk. I placed the velvet pouch in her hand and told her that I wanted her to have what was inside it. She looked a little confused, but I told her just to open it. When she opened the pouch, she just stared at what was inside it for the longest time, until she finally asked me, “Are you really sure you want me to have this?” When I told her I was sure, I also added that I wanted to give this to her particularly during Lent. She slowly got up from her chair and came over to give me a heartfelt hug.

It was then that she said to me, “You have no idea what this means to me. I have been going through such a difficult time lately, and I am so worried about one of my children. My daughter is pregnant and might be losing the baby.” I told her, “Then you were meant to have this. Wear it or carry it with you. Mary will help you and your family.” With tears in her eyes, she undid the clasp and placed the chain with the Miraculous Medal around her neck. She thanked me again and said, “I’m going to wear this and never take it off.”

I just wanted to share this encounter with you. I know Mary directed me to give up my Miraculous Medal because my co-worker was in need of having it and that she needed to turn her attention towards Mary during this difficult time for her family.

I would be so grateful if you would see that my intentions that I have enclosed are placed at our Lady’s Altar.

Share your story of Mary's intercession for you .
