This letter is from California.
Dear Father,
Thank you for writing Father, and no, you have not lost me. During this last year, I sure needed your prayers.
The last time I wrote, I asked you for prayers for a dear friend of mine who is an elderly priest.
He survived to say Mass for me when I was near death. I had been in a coma for 28 days. My doctor told my friend who was with me that I would not live through the night.
She phoned my priest friend and woke him up to give him the news. He got up and proceeded to say our supreme prayer-the Mass-for me.
At the same time, my doctor was sitting by my bed. I was in shock, had double pneumonia, and was in a deep coma.
My doctor put her hand up to my face to see if I was still breathing and I opened my eyes. My doctor could not speak for some time, and then she said, "I am looking at a miracle."
I know it was a miracle. I thanked my priest friend later for healing me, but he said no, he did not heal me-God did, through him.
I am 82, and so many things like this have happened to me throughout my life.
I was not born a Catholic. In fact, my family was anti-Catholic. We had no God in our childhood. I had four brothers and one sister, but I am the only one to become a Catholic. When I was very young, I felt God's hand on me.
And Father, please pray for my son. He is 57 and had a massive stroke last fall. He has had two surgeries since then, and is very discouraged. His wife does not allow anyone to see her husband except my brother. I think she needs a lot of prayers too.
Please pray for me also. I have arthritis, but thank God, I can still use my mind and my hands.
God bless you. |
