International Association of the Miraculous Medal
Conference in Paris
By Father James G. Ward, C.M.
Over 70 delegates, representing Miraculous Medal Associations in many countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, and North and South America, attended our conference. We conducted the sessions in Spanish, English, and French, our three official languages.
I found myself deeply impressed by the faith and energy of the delegates as they honor our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. Some of us come from wealthy nations and some come from countries struggling with poverty. Yet, repeatedly, the deep faith of our counterparts throughout the world touches my heart and helps my own spiritual life.
In particular, one moving session occurred when a woman from Cameroon spoke to the delegates. She is a friend of our Lady’s Association here in Perryville. Her husband, after a long fight with cancer, died on November 13, right before the conference began. Just before he died, he insisted she attend and she did come to Paris.
In her talk, often combined with tears, she publicly turned to me and thanked the Association and its members for all that we do for her and the people of Cameroon. She said that what we do for her is so important to her and her people.
At the conference Father Gregory Gay, C.M., the Superior General of the Vincentians and Director General of the Association of the Miraculous Medal, publicly thanked the membership of the Association here in Perryville for all that we do for the Association throughout the world, especially the work of maintaining the international website.
He also asked me to remain on the International Council, which I said I would do. I ask for your continued prayers for the success of the worldwide Association of the Miraculous Medal, and thank you again for your generosity and support of our work.
