| From Father Ward
According to our tradition, this issue of our Lady’s Bulletin is dedicated to the Miraculous Medal, as we anticipate the feast day on November 27. Our feature article provides a brief history of the story of the Miraculous Medal.
Special Events at the Shrine
Our Rose Rosary Novena officially starts on October 7, ends on October 15, and highlights the importance of the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. On each day of the novena, we place a fresh bouquet of ten roses on the Shrine Altar. Nine of the roses represent the nine days of the novena. The tenth rose represents you, along with your prayers and petitions.
November 2 is the Feast of All Souls. It is a special time to remember our beloved dead at the Shrine.
Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Novena is November 19-27. Please send us your intentions and Votive Light requests, so that we may pray for them as we anticipate this feast.
The Legacy of Sister Marillac Clarke, D.C.
Sister Marillac Clarke was a Daughter of Charity for 73 years. She was a long time member of our Lady’s Association who died in 2007 at the age of 101. Sister Marillac remembered the Association generously in her will. I invite you to read about her final gift to the Association through her estate.
International Gathering in Paris in November 2009
The leadership of the Associations of the Miraculous Medal in various countries throughout the world will gather in Paris from November 16-20 to study our statutes and constitutions and see how we can be more effective in spreading devotion to Mary, conceived without original sin.
We want to be faithful to Mary’s messages as we spread her love and care for her children. There is still time to send me your intentions and burn a Votive Light. I will remember you and your intentions in my prayers at the Shrine of the Apparitions while I am in Paris.
Pilgrimage to Rome and Sicily
I will be leading a pilgrimage to various cities in Italy, especially Rome and Sicily, next April 12-23.
One of the highlights of the pilgrimage will be a papal audience with his Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI, if his schedule permits at Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome. April is a beautiful time of the year in Italy.
Please contact me for a brochure and further details if you are interested in joining me.
Vincentian Family-Study the Catholic Faith at Home
In our Vincentian Family article, Father Oscar Lukefahr, C.M., fellow Vincentian, and prolific writer, once again invites us to study and learn more about our Catholic faith. I know I always need to learn more about the faith, even though I am a priest and have taught in colleges.
Online Gift Shop
I have two lovely gifts to offer you. The first is a very affordable surprise Miraculous Medal. Our second gift is a delightful Floral-Heart Miraculous Medal. We have many more resources at our online Gift Shop.
Monthly Giving Program
Please consider making a monthly gift to our Lady’s Association to help keep the Association’s administrative costs to a minimum. Our Monthly Giving Program makes it possible for you to add an automatic charge to your credit card, or a debit to your bank account on the 10th of each month. This allows more of your donation to go directly to the works of our Lady’s Association.
