Monica (Healey) Derse was born on November 23, 1912. She was married to Julius Derse who preceded her in death on March 29, 1995. Monica died on May 29, 2004. She was a member of Saint Bridget Parish in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
She grew up in Queens, New York, and worked as an executive secretary. Monica loved dining out and traveling. She also loved to read, but was unable to do so later in life due to macular degeneration.
Monica was a shy, private person who loved the Lord and our Lady very much and believed strongly in her charitable works.
Monica’s last charitable act was to generously name the Association of the Miraculous Medal as a beneficiary in her will. As one of Monica’s friends told me, she would be honored at being recognized for helping so many through her final gift to Mary through her Association.
