Dr. Christopher Canino was born on February 3, 1919. A musician and retired radiologist, he died at the age of 88 on June 13, 2007.
An avid musician at the young age of 16, Dr. Canino helped support his family by performing on weekends with a five-member band he formed. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II attaining the rank of staff sergeant. A member of the Lansdowne Symphony, Dr. Canino also played with several bands and quartets in the greater Philadelphia area and enjoyed performing at nursing homes.
Dr. Canino was on staff at many Philadelphia area hospitals before and after his retirement. He also taught at several hospitals while on staff, and was a clinical assistant professor at Temple University in Philadelphia.
A sister, a niece and a nephew, and grandnieces and grandnephews survive him. His funeral Mass was held at Saint Joseph’s Church in Collingdale, and he was laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, in Yeadon, Pennsylvania.
Our Lady’s Association was blessed to have Dr. Canino as a friend and benefactor. Not only did he support us during his lifetime, he generously named our Lady’s Association to receive a bequest from his estate.
