A Friend of Our Lady's Association
by Father James G. Ward, C.M.
In this issue, we feature Audrey Roberts, who found our Lady’s Association via radio and the internet in 2006.
When I asked Audrey how she found our Lady’s Association, she responded, “In 2006, I was going through many trials; work, finances, health. I found comfort in prayer. One day I was listening about the Miraculous Medal and intercessions of our Lady on Our Sacred Heart Radio, (AM 1050). I googled ‘Miraculous Medal’ on the internet and found the Association of the Miraculous Medal. I was drawn to our Lady’s Association for the sincerity offered to those in need of intercessions.” Audrey is devoted to our Lady, because as our mother, Mary provides us with unconditional love and is always there for each of us.
When she was going through her trials in 2006, Audrey asked our Lady to help. Of her experience then, she told me, “When I first asked for our Lady’s intercession, I felt great warmth of comfort and calm. I knew if I could have such comfort during an unbearable time, I could put my faith in our Lady with the needs of my loved ones.”
Audrey did just that. She asked our Lady to intervene for her sister when she was having a follow-up exam for a lump in her breast (which turned out to be a cyst). She also asked for our Lady’s assistance when her daughter went to be tested for retinitis pigmentosa (she received a good test result). Audrey also told me that our Lady helped her son to find a better job with a nicer employer. Her prayers were also answered when her daughter passed the first two tests for her master’s degree. Her daughter is taking her final master’s test this fall, and Audrey has already placed a prayer petition at our Lady’s Shrine Altar for her daughter on this test.
She told me that when she was in poor health and out of work that she’d promised our Lady that once she was working and earning a paycheck again that she would make charitable contributions to our Lady’s Association to show her gratitude for our Lady’s intercessions. About this pledge Audrey related, “Within a short time of my promise, I had indeed returned to work with a paycheck. Our Lady was there for me in my most despaired days; it seems only a small token to be able to thank her for that.”
Audrey gives to the Association on a monthly basis, enjoying the convenience and security provided through our Monthly Giving Program. She’s also a member of the Crown of Our Lady Club and we are very grateful for her generosity and kindness to our Lady’s Association. Audrey enjoys receiving our letters and emails. She also uses the Association’s secure web site to order rosaries and Miraculous Medals when she wants gifts in a hurry.
Of the many ministries the Association supports, she tells of one in particular, “I feel that a very important cause is the education and formation of priests and brothers, for without them; there would be no way to educate and spread the word of our Catholic faith and the acts of charity that are formed by this.”
Audrey wanted to share her personal experiences with you to thank our Lady for the many favors our Lady has obtained for her and her family. Our Lady has blessed Audrey and her loved ones with many graces. She would like to invite you to become closer to Mary and her Association.
Send your petitions and prayer requests to our Lady’s Altar where they will join Audrey’s and those of other members of the Association. Here they will be remembered in our prayers and the prayers of the Vincentian Family in the western part of the United States.
