What Is the Association of the Miraculous Medal?
by Father Benjamin Romo, C.M.
International Coordinator, Association of the Miraculous Medal

This article summarizes a monthly catechesis Father Romo wrote for the International Association of the Miraculous Medal.  This is part two of a two-part article.

Three Dimensions of Spirituality

Christian Spirituality:  Members of the Association make Jesus Christ and his Word the center of their life.  They strive to be like Jesus and understand they have been called to live their life as Christ did.

Marian Spirituality:  The Marian spirituality is inspired by the gospel.  It nurtures and motivates the Association’s spirituality.  The Virgin’s message to Catherine Labouré continues to have importance and relevance to the spiritual and apostolic path of the Association members today.  They avail themselves of the Marian spirituality that springs from the gospel and the Church’s traditional practices and devotions, such as Marian feasts, rosaries, and prayers.

Vincentian Spirituality:  The Association begins in the heart of the Vincentian Family and feeds on its spirituality by serving the poor in the manner of Saint Vincent de Paul, Saint Catherine Labouré, and all the saints of the Vincentian Family.

Formation and Service

Prayer:  Mary is the model of prayer for members of the Association.

Formation:  This is indispensable to live and serve in the Association.  Members may avail themselves of all that is offered by the members of the International Coordinating and National or Local Council.  (See the catecheses on the Association’s international website—www.amminter.org for more information.)

Service and Evangelization:  Prayer life and formation are oriented towards the apostolate and personal sanctification.  Concrete and direct service to the poor is part of the Association’s identity.  Belonging to the Association means to be willing to serve, materially and/or spiritually, especially those who are in most need.

Apostolate

Strive to reach sanctity, by faithfully living the proper vocation.  In the midst of the world, be a witness of Jesus Christ and his kingdom.  Evangelize and serve the poorest.  Be active in the life and apostolate of the local churches.  Be a witness of hope.
