Jesus called his apostles to be his “witnesses…to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8) As Christians, he calls us to do the same.
Soon after Saint Vincent de Paul founded the Congregation of the Mission, he began sending Vincentian missionaries out from France to spread the good news of the Gospels. Vincentian missionaries began their own missionary journeys—traveling to the ends of the earth—in the same missionary spirit that guided the apostles.
This Lent, you can give witness to Christ by supporting our Vincentian priests and brothers, especially those in the mission fields. Through your
“mission” sacrifice to our Lady’s Association, you give witness to Christ and the spirit of the apostles—without leaving your home.
Almsgiving has been a Lenten practice since the early days of the Church. It is only natural for us to continue to make Lenten sacrifices to support those serving in the missions.
Please pray during Lent for Vincentian missionaries and the poor they serve. And please support the work of the Vincentian missionaries around the world by your Mission sacrifice and Votive Light offerings. Send your petitions today. We pray daily at our Lady’s Shrine for all who bring their intentions before Mary’s Altar in confident prayer.
