The feast of the Assumption is a feast of hope and fulfillment. It is also an occasion for us to look away from our lives here on earth, and to turn our focus towards heaven.
We only have to look at Mary’s life to have reason for hope. The whole pattern of Mary’s life gives us reason to hope. When Mary looked on helplessly as her Son was suffering and dying on the cross, she did not lose hope. She trusted and believed in her Son and his promise of eternal life. She gave us a perfect example to follow, to live our lives in the hope of her Son, our Savior.
As we meditate on the feast of the Assumption, August 15, we hear Mary inviting us to pray with hope and confidence. This is the same invitation she gave to Saint Catherine Labouré. “Come to the foot of the altar,” she said. “Abundant graces will come to all who ask for them.”
Saint Catherine placed her trust in our Lady, praying confidently, and hoping in the promise of eternal salvation. I invite you to “pray with hope and confidence.” Accept Mary’s promise of abundant graces.
Send your intentions to our Lady’s Shrine in Perryville for the
feast of the Assumption.
Here we will pray to Mary for you and your needs. They will be near the altar in our Lady’s Shrine.
I encourage you to burn a Votive Light to honor our Lady on the feast of her Assumption and for your own intentions. Just fill out the reply form and send along your Votive Light offering. Ask our Lady to fill you with God’s grace on the feast of the Assumption. Send your petition to her Shrine today and it will be there in time for remembrance on the feast.
Any offering you send will help bring our Lady of the Miraculous Medal to Catholics and support the work of Vincentian priests and brothers among the abandoned poor. They gratefully remember your intentions each day in their Masses and prayers.
Sincerely yours in our Lady,
