Here's What's New

Tour the Shrine Church on December 18 and 19

For the past nine years, country churches of various denominations in Perry, Bollinger, and Cape counties in Missouri have opened their doors for visitors to view their Christmas decorations and to spend a few moments in silent prayer during the Advent season. For the first time, the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous (Saint Mary’s of the Barrens Church and Bishop Rosati’s log cabin) will be among the many churches on the tour, December 18 and 19, from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. CT. If you live in Perryville or close by, make plans to visit the Church and log cabin. If you already have plans to visit the Shrine on these dates and are coming from out of town, I hope you will stay long enough either day to tour the Church. Gift Shop hours at the Visitor’s Center will be extended both nights. If you would like to print a copy of the brochure with map, click here.

Join our first ever “Walk for Life” on the Shrine Grounds January 17, 2015

For the first time, the Association of the Miraculous Medal will be hosting a “Walk for Life” on the Shrine grounds in support of the March for Life held each year in Washington D.C. Our event will take place on January 17, 2015 beginning at 11:00 a.m. and will include the rosary, a silent walk to the Shrine Grotto, and a prayer service to pray for pro-life choices as we honor our Blessed Mother. Mark your calendar to join us on January 17, and invite your family and friends to participate. Everyone in attendance will have the opportunity to sign a banner which will then be carried by local youth in the Washington D.C. March for Life on January 22. For more information, call our office at 1-800-264-6279.

Winter Bulletin Newsletter

In this issue of the Winter Bulletin, Fr. Luke writes about a child who was born more than two thousand years ago who was destined to change the world, and how this compares to nurses viewing the way they serve the elderly.  He also writes about the time we spend watching television, riding in a car, eating, sleeping, and attending Mass every Sunday.  Guess which one we spend the least amount of time doing?  To learn about Year-End gifts, how you can sign up for the 2015 Spring Pilgrimage to Italy, or to request a new Christmas Votive Light card, read the Winter Bulletin. You may also send in your intentions to be remembered during the Christmas season.

Listen to Fr. Luke's Relevant Radio Broadcast from November 25th

Fr. Luke, Spiritual Director and Mary Gail Reding, the Association’s Development Director was on Relevant Radio November 25th. Relevant Radio is a national Catholic Radio station. Fr. Luke and Mary Gail discussed the story of the Miraculous Medal and how to become a member of our Lady’s Association in Perryville, MO.  You can listen to the broadcast by clicking here.

Donor Recognition Mass and Reception

On Sunday, November 23rd, Fr. Luke celebrated a special Mass for long-time members of the Association.  These members, many who have faithfully supported the Association of the Miraculous Medal for 30, 40, or even 50 years or more, were able to come to Perryville to share in this event.  After Mass, those attending were invested in the Miraculous Medal.

In spite of the rain, over 150 members came to celebrate Mass with Fr. Luke and visit with him and our staff.  The staff appreciated the opportunity to host a luncheon and meet many of the members.  It was our way of thanking those who support our mission of bringing people to Jesus through Mary, our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, and share our faith. Roses for Rome Prayer Wreath

On November 4-9, 2014, members of the Association of the Miraculous Medal from more than 30 countries came together in Rome at the first General Assembly of the International Association of the Miraculous Medal --- and they prayed for all of us. Several staff members from our Lady’s Association in Perryville attended the Assembly and placed a “Roses for Rome Prayer Wreath” in the chapel. The prayer wreath represented the prayer requests of our members. During the final Mass on Sunday, additional roses were held up in prayer for our members by all of those attending. On the final day of the General Assembly, the wreath was taken in a procession to Saint Peter’s Square where Pope Francis led the crowd by praying the Angelus and other prayers.

The members of the Association from such countries as Thailand, Slovakia, Columbia, Italy, and Nigeria, shared their stories of spreading devotion to our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.  Each country promotes devotion in their unique way.   All members are committed to sharing the medal and the story of Mary’s miraculous intervention in the lives of those who ask for God’s graces. If you would like to see some additional pictures of the wreath taken at the General Assembly, click here
