What's New

Join our Assumption Novena of Masses

Beginning August 7, at 8:00 a.m. CT, we will honor our Blessed Mother here at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal with a very special Assumption Novena of Masses.  On each of these nine days we will celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in devotion to Mary, asking her to obtain for us God’s infinite graces.  Do you know someone, perhaps a spouse, child, grandchild, or friend, in need of Jesus’ loving mercy?  Please, send me their names as well as any special prayer intentions you have.  We will place them at our Lady’s Altar and remember each of them in the nine Assumption Masses we celebrate, including the Solemnity Mass on August 15. You may also wish to burn a Votive Light at the Shrine as an expression of your desire to honor Mary and seek her intercession.  To read Fr. Luke’s Assumption letter, click here.

Mary’s Birthday – Send us your intentions

Our Blessed Mother cares deeply for you and intercedes with her Son on your behalf.  Did you know that her birthday is coming up?  It’s true, and to honor our Lady we will offer a novena of prayer beginning on her birthday, September 8.  Click here to submit your special intentions to be remembered at our Lady’s Shrine during the novena, September 8 – 16, and to request Votive Lights to burn.  Each of us needs prayer, and none is stronger than the intercessory prayer of our Blessed Mother.  When we, together as her children, offer her our united petitions, she hears and answers them.

Carry our Lady to school

For many, school will begin in a few weeks.  Many emotions like excitement, nervousness, sadness, hope, doubt, and anxiety are felt by students and parents alike.  The single greatest thing you can do for any student is pray. The second thing you can do is give them a Miraculous Medal as a reminder of Mary’s love and protection.  Send a returning student our new “Back-to-School” Votive Light card.  You can also submit your intentions here for any student you know to be remembered in the prayers and Masses at the Shrine during the school year.  To request a “Backpack Mary Medal” as a gift for a loved one returning to school, click here to see more details and to place your order.  Read Father Luke's message about how Mary intercedes for parents, grandparents, and guardians, guiding all students just as she and Joseph saw to Jesus’ education.

Mary Shares your sorrow

The Miraculous Medal reminds us of Mary’s sorrows. Her heart, pierced with a sword, is near the thorn-crowned heart of Jesus.  The "M" is intertwined with the cross of Jesus.  Let’s ask Mary to help us join our sorrows to those of Jesus and to find peace and joy even in our sorrows. I invite you to join us at our Blessed Mother's Altar during the Our Lady of Sorrows Novena, beginning on September 7.  Read this prayer each day of the novena. We will remember you in these Masses, and your petitions will be placed near Mary’s Altar.  To read Fr. Luke’s message about our Lady of Sorrows, click here.

Save the Date – Journey with us this fall to Spain and Lourdes, France

Father Prudencio Rodriguez, C.M., Associate Spiritual Director, will be leading the Association’s fall pilgrimage to Spain and Lourdes, France, October 8-19, 2015. The highlights of this journey will be a visit to Avila during the 500th anniversary of St. Teresa of Avila’s birth and Mass at the grotto in Lourdes, France, where our Blessed Mother appeared to St. Bernadette. For more information about this exciting and faith-filled pilgrimage, click here.

Summer Bulletin Newsletter

In the summer issue of the Miraculous Medal Bulletin, Fr. Luke talks about the rosary being “the Bible translated into life” and how it allows us to reflect on Christ’s most significant actions and teachings. You will also find a small list of Shrines you can visit throughout the United States during your travels, along with a list of flowers to plant that are associated with our Blessed Mother. Read about the ways members are spreading the Miraculous Medal to others, and how you can help share this wonderful gift with others. To read the entire summer Bulletin, click here.
